The return of Robyn Ali to the helm of the Nadi Town Council has been welcomed by the Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI).
Nadi’s newly-appointed special administrator is no stranger to Local Government affairs and is a former chief executive of the Council.
Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industry president, Dr Ram Raju said his chamber looked forward to working closely and proactively with the council to make Nadi one of the proudest towns in the country.
He also thanked the interim special administrator, Praveen Bala for his services.
“Robyn obviously has a wealth of knowledge and experience and his acumen in the affairs of the town council is an asset,” Dr Raju said.
“I’m sure he will be able to turn the town around and bring back the confidence the business community is looking for.”
Dr Raju said the chamber also looked forward to the appointment of a new Nadi Town Council chief executive.
The stressed the chamber’s optimism about the growing influx of businesses in Nadi’s central business district area following those that closed after the 2012 floods.
Mr Bala had been acting in the position of interim Nadi special administrator after the dismissal of Aisea Tuidraki and Nemia Tagi from the special administrator and chief executive positions, respectively, last month.
Their removal was amidst claims of not fully-co-operating with investigations by the Fiji Independent Commision Against Corruption (FICAC) and allegations of conduct and favourtisim in the allocation of jobs and contracts.
