With one more week left before the Westpac Women’s Education grant closes on July 19, the bank is encouraging women and girls to make grant applications now.
Through this grant, Westpac is providing opportunities to girls and women to secure finance for their education.
The bank is in its fourth round offering grants since 2011 to assist women and girls in their educational endeavor.
Westpac Fiji general manager, Adrian Hughes, said: “Despite the fact women deserve stronger leadership and economic opportunities, they are too often overlooked in our society.
“We know women and girls who benefit from education have a far stronger chance of entering the workforce and enjoying a strong and stable career.
“And while it’s easy to see the benefits of a strong career for women and girls; having educated, engaged and financially-empowered women is also highly beneficial to entire countries, both socially and economically.”
Six grants this time
Westpac is offering a total of six education grants in Fiji this round.
Two is a $500 grants for primary school girls, two are $1300 grants for high school or secondary college students and two for female tertiary students or workers who would like to return to study with a grant $3500.
Applications for round four close on July 19 while winners will be announced on August12.
“Women and girls only have only a week to apply for this much-needed helping hand with the cost of their education,” Mr Hughes said.
“I strongly encourage women and girls from around the country to apply for these Grants – they are a huge stepping stone to personal and professional growth.
“All women and girls in our country deserve this enriching opportunity.”
