Nasinu town in hope of raising the bar

With a 102 new business licences being issued by the Nasinu Town Council, the town is climbing the ladder to develop the town with bigger and better plans.
Special Administrator Mosese Kama said there is variety of new businesses that will be witnessed soon.
“There have been 102 types of new Business License issued since June,” Mr Kama said.
Mr Kama said the upcoming businesses are going to be a boost for the town providing people employment opportunities.
“The council is also trying to beautify the town to make it a tourist attraction town so that not only the locals come here but also tourists can enjoy a perfect environment,” Mr Kama said.
He noted some major development that were in the lineup over the course of the next few months.
q Laucala Beach Estate Coastline Reclamation Project.
A United Nations Development Programme– Global Environment Fund will assist to the tune of FD$100,000 to be given to the Council through a Memorandum of Agreement.
“This project through mangrove replanting and foreshore securememt is to address damaged coastline along Laucala Beach and Kinoya caused by the effects of climate change,” Mr Kama said.
“The proposed foreshore reclamation project at Laucala Beach Estate is also earmarked for tourist sightseeing and other leisure activities.”
The work is expected to begin in August this year.

Major projects for this year
q Upgrading of Council’s Mayoral Drive and Council Taxi Stand/Car Park
Upgrading works for the council building will begin from next week Monday July 8.
The project will  be carried out by Fiji Roads Authority at an estimated cost of around $45,000.
q Upgrading of Narere Ground
“This will be a joint project between the Engineering Department of the Fiji Military Forces and the Council on proper ground work and leveling of the Narere Sports Ground,” Mr Kama said
“Currently the heavy machinery from the Military Forces are all tied up with other commitments thus commencement date is yet to be determined.”
q Construction of Kinoya Road Driveway, Yanuyanu Place
Yanuyanu Place consultation talks are still currently underway between the residents, Housing Authority, Lands Department, Fiji Electricity Authority, Water Authority of Fiji and Council on construction of a common driveway for the residents of Kinoya Road in Yanuyanu Place.
The estimated cost for project is around $90, 000.
“The Council is doing beautification works by roadside flower planting Parks and Garden upgrading and beautifying it,” Mr Kama said.

2014 plans
The future plans for next year include building of a Market opposite Reba Circle, Nadera alongside Ratu Dovi Road.
“Acquisition of land for the site is still in progress between Ministry of Education, Lands Department and Council,” Mr Kama said.
The council is also going to build fish market in Nokonoko Road and the acquisition of land for the site is still in process between Lands Department, Sea Road Transport and Council.
The people of Laqere will also be able to benefit from the market that will be developed at Laqere Bridge and the town will also have an upgrading of the 76 council taxi stands.
