In their quest to improve efficiencies, the Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) launched its short code communication system in partnership with Vodafone Fiji and Newnet.
The 5777 short code for Vodafone and INKK users, is aimed at making communications between the Water Authority and its customers easier.
Apart from this, Water Authority has also embraced a few other innovative solutions such as payment through M-Paisa, SMS Bulk Broadcast and vehicle tracking.
M-Paisa and Bulk SMS solutions help improve collections and disseminating timely information while vehicle tracking helps to monitor and track its fleet.
Vodafone commends authority
Vodafone director Corporate & Business Marketing, Ronald Prasad it was proud that the Water Authority was embracing new technology.
“It is indeed great to WAF embracing changes in technology and we are proud to be the preferred supplier of Mobile Communications and Solutions for WAF,” Mr Prasad said.
Mr Prasad said short codes, in a short time had proven to be very successful and beneficial to both businesses and customers alike and Newnet had been doing a fantastic job.
“This is a simple, yet effective solution that will help better the communication between WAF and its customers as a result of which it is bound to bring about improvements in service delivery.”
Water Authority chief executive officer, Opetaia Ravai said this brings better accountability, better reporting, and operational efficiencies.
It also reduces misuse and savings in fuel as well as the repair and maintenance costs.
A total of 75 Water Authority vehicles are now equipped with Vodafone Vehicle Tracking Solution.
