Off Road Cave Safari, which began operation in October last year, has brought in a modified Land Rover.
“Yes we have a new and a modified Land
Rover to cater for the increase in passenger numbers plus our desire to offer something completely original and unique to Fiji,” said managing director Jay Whyte.
The Off Road Cave Safari complements the award-winning Sigatoka River Safari.
“We have decided to have a modified Land Rover to safely convey large groups of people and the changes needed to be made,” Mr Whyte said.
“The spacious vehicle safely conveys 12 passengers plus driver and enables all on board a spectacular view,” he said.
About the cave
Naihehe Cave was once a fortress during the cannibal era and still contains a cannibal oven, a ritual platform, the sacred priest chamber and other reminders of its history.
The company offers tours along rarely travelled roads to Fiji’s interior and shows off this large cave system.
Passengers are transported across the Sigatoka River on a ‘bilibili’ (bamboo-made raft), and then board the Land Rover to head further inland to the Naihehe Cave.
