Digicel Fiji presented a major prize of a 23-foot dive boat to Paradise Cove Resort on Friday.
The resort won the boat during a draw in Digicel’s latest hospitality industry promotion at the Bula Fiji Tourism Exchange (BFTE).
Paradise Cove Resort is located on the island of Naukacuvu in the Yasawa Group and staff were particularly pleased to receive the prize prior to their grand opening.
Managing director Nick Wood said the win was a timely one, given the resort’s opening this weekend.
“The entire West has been battling hard since Cyclone Evan. This win is particularly rewarding given the launch of our resort,” Mr Wood said.
“Paradise Cove is the newest sister to our nearby operated Blue Lagoon Beach Resort and Octopus Resort.
“And the resorts operate exclusively on Digicel’s dedicated internet, fixed line and GSM (Global System Mobile) services.”
Promoting tourism
The promotion means a lot to the tourism industry in that it truly reflected their commitment and understanding of the hospitality sector in Fiji, he added.
The resort is the first in the Yasawas to serve their VIP guests with Digicel connections in their rooms.
Digicel Fiji’s Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) Sales Manager Ravisa Daunivuka stated: “We are proud to be associated with Paradise Cove and their sister resorts.
“The response to the hotel sector promotion was extremely positive and we are looking forward building on this with something even Bigger and Better in future.”
The boat was built by The Fibreglass Shop in Lami. It includes a 60 horsepower 4-stroke engine, hydraulic steering and a fully equipped maritime safety kit.
