Fiji rubbed shoulders with 60 other countries at a trade show in Mumbai.
Mumbai, India’s largest travel source market, plays a pivotal role in outbound travel, to contribute to 60 per cent of India’s outbound tourist markets.
The exponential growth in domestic and international travel by Indians motivated Tourism Fiji’s reinvestment in Outbound Travel Mart (OTM), chief executive officer Brent Hill said.
Tourism Fiji, led by Robert Thompson and Vimlesh Magan, actively engaged in specialised networking events for key niche segments, including Cines Locales for Bollywood producers and Wedding Sutra Enclave for the outbound wedding market.
“Tourism Fiji’s booth was constantly busy with a steady flow of key trade partners and retail travel agents,” Mr Hill said.

“OTM focuses on outbound travel and is strategically timed to coincide with the beginning of the peak outbound season in India.
“OTM 2024 saw a significant increase in size compared to its 2023 edition, with over 1600 exhibitors from 60 countries and 30 Indian states and union territories with over 35,000 attendees.”.
Meanwhile, Mr Thompson held 14 media interviews including television and a panel discussion emphasising Fiji’s commitment to sustainability
