Fiji is home to the manufacturer of the Best Architectural Glass Retail Business 2023 – South Pacific, according to a leading regional publication which covers the latest news, insights, and trends in the Asia-Pacific region.
Island Glass and Mirror at Walu Bay, Suva, was recognised by APAC Insider as a market leader in glass products and related professional services.
The company received a subsequent award.
Glass and Mirror has come a long way from its humble beginnings with limited finances and resources, to expand its operations to Lautoka.
Window Package
In 2019, Island Glass & Mirror acquired another leading Fijian business in the architectural window and glass space, Construction Services SP Limited.
As a commercial and domestic window manufacturer, the acquisition allowed the businesses to offer the market a total compliant window package.
Island Glass & Mirror is a people-centric business as the company vision suggests, to put great emphasis on the development and retention of its staff.
“We are proud to have built a culture that is more akin to a close family unit, that values relationships and time every bit as much as achievement,” company executive Asish Singh said.
“We encourage our staff to acquire new skills in their personal development.

“They can learn and operate market leading manufacturing equipment, and programmes that support business growth and development, to further enhance their own skill sets.”
The company’s window package business provide solutions that exceed Fiji’s building and construction markets, Mr Singh said.
“Working closely with architects, designers, and engineers in the market ensures that Island Glass & Mirror is able to understand inherent needs and aspirations for each building design project,” he said.
“Underpinned by an achievement and growth mindset, we also encourage laughter and fun as mechanism of value.”
Opportunities
Island Glass & Mirror identified opportunities as Fiji recovers from the coronavirus pandemic.
“One of the challenges that Island Glass & Mirror faces is to ensure future buildings are designed well, and built to survive the ever-changing climate by providing compliant products, particularly in the cyclonic impact-resistant glass and window space,” Mr Singh said.
“Progressive improvements in our operations and a strengthening in our primary product offering culminated in the opening of a state-of-the art glass factory and offices in 2017.
“The Island Glass & Mirror facility in Walu Bay is considered Best in Class for Fiji, with large overhead cranes, automatic glass cutting lines, and automated edge processing and milling and drilling capabilities.”
