LunchBox Restaurant, an eatery which opened in Labasa in 2013, has recently undergone a major extension and renovation.

VCORP Pte Limited managing director Vinesh Dayal opened the renovated eatery just before the Christmas weekend.

Mr Dayal, the owner of the Lunch- Box Restaurant Limited, Hotel North Pole, Vualiku Hotel and Apartments, North Pole Rental Limited, Timber and Blockworks Limited, said the renovation cost $400,000 to do structural work and fit in new equipment and appliances.

“We had promised the people of Labasa when we initially opened LunchBox that we will provide the best restaurant and in 2023 we have delivered our promise,” Mr Dayal said.

It took four months for the company to complete the project.

About the new opening LunchBox Restaurant is located in the same building as Labasa’s Hotel North Pole, in the food court section.

Open seven days a week from 8am to 10pm, the food court is set up to provide enough space for individuals and families.

The new face-lift also provides for a coffee culture and a donut outlet as well as an outlet called Periperi Grills.

Pastas and grilled and baked fish are on the menu.

Customers can also get Frosty boy soft serve ice cream and sundaes as a result of the renovations.

The seating capacity has increased from 84 to 175 in an air-conditioned modern environment.

A kids’ play centre is planned for February. The restaurant initially had 18 staff and now it has a total of 36 staff.

Labasa is ‘Developing’

“Labasa is changing and it is only right that, as the Chamber of Commerce and Industries president, I once again set the trend for our other members to take their next big step,” Mr Dayal said.

He referenced the development of Labasa’s Damodar City project being full of activity.

“Damodar City offers what no local thought of and we are grateful to the visionary Dayanand Damodar for this project,” he said.

“So, with our project this side of the town must also stand up and improve and upgrade their properties and culture of doing business as trends have changed and if they don’t change, they will all be left behind.”
