As French companies grow their presence in Fiji, Ambassador of France to Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Tonga, and Tuvalu, François-Xavier Leger says their investment means they are optimistic about doing business and contributing to the economy.

Mr Leger highlighted the value French businesses brought to Fiji as he unveiled France’s ‘Make it Iconic’ campaign designed to promote France as an ideal destination for investors and talent to “choose France”.

French energy companies such as Total Energies have made significant investments to operate a network of service stations around the country. Total Energies has been in Fiji since 2006.

“In those 17 years, the level of investment that the company has poured into its activities has been quite consistent,” said Total Energies Marketing (Fiji) managing director and country chair Dennis Michael Cuaycong.

He said there were plans to build more stations on top of the two new locations Total Energies opened this year, providing jobs.

BRED Bank chief executive officer Thierry Charras-Gillot said he wanted to raise the bank’s 15 per cent market share in Fiji and underscored its commitment to good service delivery to both retail and corporate customers to achieve that.
