Hem Raj, popularly known as Bruce Pizza Wala continues to amaze the people of Labasa with his homemade pizza.

The father of two children started his own business in 2004 after resigning from Hot Bread Kitchen as the head baker.

Even now at the age of 59, he continues to bake, sell and deliver pizza from his home kitchen at Benua, Labasa with the support of his family.

A die hard Labasa soccer and Fiji Seven’s rugby team fan, is always spotted wearing something in red also selling pizza in various carnivals, festivals and sporting events in Labasa.

“After working as a sugarcane labourer with my father, I worked for Hot Bread Kitchen for 20 years and that is where my interest to bake pizza began,” Mr Raj said.

“I love to cook different types of pizza and with my savings I enjoy travelling.”

He hopes to visit the Lau Islands even though it would mean many days of travel.
