The Ministry of Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises is committed more than ever to building an environment where stakeholders in the public and private sectors can work to support Fiji’s Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
Deputy Prime Minister and line minister Manoa Kamikamica said this was possible with more than $80 million in Government for MSMEs this financial year.
An information session on income-generating programmes was held yesterday at the Suva Civic Centre, so representatives from various Government ministries and public sector entities could share initiatives they are implementing to help the MSME community.
In his remarks to open the session, Mr Kamikamica said that the information sharing should address a major problem facing the MSME landscape.
“One of the barriers that hinder MSMEs’ growth is access to information,” he said.
“For this reason, as advisors, you should be well informed about the various programmes and forms of assistance your Ministry provides – even if it means being conversant about what others outside your ministry are offering to the same interest group.
“You are the first point of contact for our MSMEs out in the communities.
