Sophie Foster has called both Fiji and Australia home her whole life. She is a veteran journalist in the two countries.

Ms Foster is currently the Queensland digital real estate editor for The Courier-Mail, an Australian newspaper based in Brisbane.

She spent the first 15 years of her career at The Fiji Times where she contributed to the publication’s news and business departments.

When she is not working, the Suva-born media professional loves to stay active by cycling and swimming.

This week, Ms Foster is in Fiji leading a business journalism workshop organised by the Fijian Media Association and ANZ for local journalists.

SunBiz spoke to her to find out her go-to places to visit when she is in the country and her top bucket-list destinations.

What is your favourite food to eat when you’re in Suva?

I’ve always loved Joji’s chilli chicken. Yum cha at the China Club in Nasese. Roti and vegetable curry.

What is next on your list of restaurants to visit?

The Bar-Belle. I want to go there because a lot of people talk about it. I think I’m going to go there.

Where do you take friends or visitors for a drink and meal when you’re in Fiji?

We’d go to Wailoaloa for a drink. We’d probably get curry somewhere. Hong Sheng in Nadi for yum cha.

What’s been your best travel experience in Fiji so far?

Belo Vula Island Resort on Bekana Island, which is an island off Lautoka. My favourite experience there was snorkelling. It’s beautiful!

What places in Fiji are on your travel bucket list?

I want to go to South Seas Island. Cloud 9, which people rave about, and Leleuvia Island. I’d also love to do South Sea Cruises around the islands.
