Nesbitt Hazelman has been appointed the chairman of Fiji Television Limited.
In an interview yesterday, Mr Hazelman said his main goal was to make sure that Fiji TV, the country’s oldest television company, improved its service to the general public and other stakeholders while maintaining its financial stability.
“Fiji TV is a listed company on the South Pacific Stock Exchange (SPX) and it’s important that we return the value to the investors at the end of the day.
“My aim is to get the staff members settled and to focus on improving Fiji TV especially being the first and oldest television station in Fiji it has a reputation to uphold.
“I plan to continue to uphold that reputation and improve on it of course.”
The former Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation chief executive officer replaced Deepak Rathod who resigned due to personal reasons as board chair past Friday. He continues to serve as an independent director on the board.
In a recent media statement sent by the SPX, the Fiji TV board sincerely acknowledged the contribution and chairmanship of Mr Rathod over the past years.
Education and professional background:
Mr Hazelman is currently the general manager and board secretary of Denarau Corporation Pte Limited.
He holds more than 20 years experience in senior executive management roles and more than 15 years in Human Resource and industrial relations. He also serves on several other boards including the FHL Fund Management Limited, Public Service Commission, and His Excellency the President’s College of Honor.
He holds a Master in Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management from Sydney University, a Post Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management from Australian Quality College, a BA with Double majors in Management and Sociology with a Diploma in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management from the University of the South Pacific. He is also a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
