Let’s Go Local: Spartan Race Good For Businesses

Working out and building bonds are part and parcel of the inaugural Spartan Fiji Teams Challenge in the country.

The event is presented by Fiji Airways and will span three days – November 9-12 – at the Aviva Race Course in Sabeto, Nadi.

Reigning champs Liam McKenzie and Reika Kijima are among the 3000 participants.

Mr McKenzie, 33, is from Brisbane, Australia.

He said Fiji had an appealing hinterland, landscape, and an amazing course.

 

“I’ve done this for about five to seven years traveling the world; really excited to explore the mountains as we have over the last couple of weeks, and then relax in Australia, before coming to the experience of Sabeto terrains,” Mr McKenzie said.

The athletic coach joined Spartans in 2017 and has twice won pack champion.

Ms Kijima, 29, of Tokyo, Japan joined the race two years ago.

“Spartan Race has a global presence,” she said.

Ms Kijima won four events in Japan.

She works at the Google office in Japan.

 

Perfect For Business

Spartan Australia managing director, Chris Heverin, said talk with the government commenced in 2019.

He said the event was held in 45 countries,

Spartan Race is the world’s toughest race with a series of obstacles of varying distance and difficulty ranging from three miles to marathon distances.

“It is perfect for businesses, groups, and teams, Mr Heverin said.

“All fitness levels can participate and it is great fun.

“Excellent discounts are available for all team sizes.

“Prizes for the biggest teams.”

The race

  • Sprint – 5K – 20 obstacles
  • Super – 10K – 25 obstacles
  • Beast – 21K – 30 obstacles
