A series of mentoring workshops aimed at closing the gap to prepare potential or current Fijian exporters for the competitive export environment will be held this week.
The workshop will be conducted over a six-month period organised by the Fiji Export Council in collaboration with Learn Fast Business Centre.
The first two-day workshop will be held at De Vos on the Park from Thursday while the third day is optional for participants who wish to undergo individual coaching from experts.
The mentoring workshop is targeting entrepreneurs, small and medium enterprises, farmers with potential to export and manufacturers gearing to export in future.
Over the next six months participants are expect to benefit by enabling potential companies to be measured against exporting requirement.
The ultimate aim is for participants to reach the level required to enter the export business.
Additionally, this will narrow the gap between small and large business, provides additional local business expertise and also opportunities for collaboration between companies.
Fiji Export Council general manager Jone Cavubati said the partnership deal is aimed at equipping participants with effective business insights.
This would then allow them to enter and survive in the competitive export environment.
“The workshop is all about closing the gaps, or rather bridging the gaps between where you are now and where you can be’’ said Mr Cavubati.

“The export world is a very competitive and to remain in the game is not easy, therefore those who aspire to enter into the export market need to be prepared.
“And this is the underlying objective of this workshop to ensure that participants are able to make correct and informed decisions on when, how, and who to export to.”
