$10 Million Investment For Labasa’s First Marina

A  local family have plans to build Labasa’s first marina dock and marina mechanical workshop on land at Malau.

Maroof Khan and Shameel Zebran, who are cousins originally from Valebasoga, decided to invest in this project.

Mr Zebran said Labasa does not have a marina dock with all the necessary facilities accommodating families and friends.

“The marina dock will be constructed in such a way to accommodate 30 yachts,” Mr Zebran said.

“Surely this investment will boost the tourism industry in Labasa and create more employment.”

The two have planned their $10 million project into stages.

Mr Khan said the first stage would be the establishment of the marina mechanical workshop.

“Once this is done then we will construct the marina dock and provide Jet Ski and speed boat for rentals,” Mr Khan said.

“We also planned to build some mini shops like coffee shop, ice plant, restaurant and a small family recreational spot.”

Mr Khan said they would begin with the work once the design of the project has been finalised.

He said probably by mid 2017 the project would be completed.

Mr Khan is currently in Australia operating his private business while Mr Zebran is operating his mechanical business by the name Sam Motors in Labasa.
