The Fiji-New Zealand Business Council is looking to revive its presence in the Fijian business community in terms of facilitating trade and businesses between the countries.
Newly elected president, Mark Hirst said: The Fiji-New Zealand Business Council has been blocked up for a little bit. We want to start to re-engaging with the community.
“Now with the elections coming up we think it’s the opportune time start talking with New Zealand businesses about showing them opportunities that are there in Fiji.”
He said this as the council hosted its annual general meeting after 2012 at the Grand Pacific Hotel last night.
Conference today
And the way in which it plans to re-engage with the community is by hosting its annual conference at the same venue today.
“It’s also to open doors for Fijian businesses to export to New Zealand.
“With the launch of the Exporter Awards the other night, it’s a big push to get exports to New Zealand and we’re a vehicle to do that.”
The conference will be opened by Permanent Secretary for Industry and Trade, Shaheen Ali.
