Celebrate life is the message by a prominent women’s business association to all women in Fiji, marking Mother’s Day, which falls tomorrow.
Women in Business president, Dr Nur Bano Ali, said this during a luncheon held at Bad Dog Cafe at Damodar City Centre yesterday.
“This puts the focus on women’s many roles particularly when they are working women, they’ve got that extra juggling act,” Dr Ali said.
The Second Secretary of the Australian High Commission, Peter Lothian, believes that Fiji was getting there as far the progress in building women’s role in the economy was concerned.
“I’m a member of a generation in Australia that saw the first female Prime Minister, Governor General and Foreign Minister as well as many female leaders in science, business and academics,” Mr Lothian noted.
“This is a place which Fiji is moving towards, as evidenced by the high profile of many Women in Business members.
“Fiji is in a place where you have women in very high positions.
“I’m not saying we’re there yet, there is work to do, and lots of things need to change, but there is progress.”
