The Suva Chamber of Commerce has called for more member participation so that the chamber is able to achieve a productive relationship with Government.
This was the call by re-elected president Dr Nur Bano Ali during the chamber’s Annual General Meeting at the Grand Pacific Hotel on Wednesday.
This was encouraged so that the business can benefit from clear rather than nebulous and unclear policies, she said.
“To get up and be counted. Speak out for the improvement of business. Do not say that ‘not me but someone else’.”
There is nothing wrong in pointing out an anomaly in the process, she said.
“In fact you can only improve a situation by pointing out and not harming anyone.

Take responsibility
Dr Ali added, the business community has to take responsibility to provide an educated feedback to the regulators for the refinement of policy.
“The Suva Chamber of Commerce believes that it is only through constant engagement and pro-active input into the policy making process that business can make its concern known and its issues addressed.”
In addition, the chamber discussed other major matters of concern not only related to the capital’s business but also in all areas of business that concern the country.
