Many a times, the functions performed by many professional accountants are forgotten or not well understood. A chief financial officer, an internal auditor or even an independent director can all have one thing in comment – they are all professional accountants.
Therefore, the importance of the role of professional accountants in business in ensuring the quality of financial reporting cannot be stressed enough. Today we share with you the journey of Rajeshwar Singh, a professional chartered accountant and a member of the Fiji Institute of Accountants.
Mr Singh has worked as a professional accountant in large private and semi–government organisations including insurance, hotel, retail, university and in senior financial roles.

Mr Singh describes his journey over the past 22 years as “absolutely amazing”

“I have been very successful in my career and large part of this credit goes to the accountancy profession and its application in my life. The academic knowledge, coupled with practical experience has been my major strength in navigating the financial and strategic leadership requirements with my role in various organisations,” he said.
For a man who is today so successful in his accounting career, it surely should be mentioned his intentions in high school were to become a medical practitioner and he had even taken up all science subjects. After form 6, Mr Singh switched to social science and through a PSC scholarship, completed the Foundation at USP with top grades in Accounting and Economic. Following this, he successfully completed BA in Accounting & Economics.
