The Sugar Industry Tribunal is expecting to release the 2014 season crushing dates next week. This was confirmed by Tribunal Commissioner Timothy Brown.
“Season crushing dates will be released after crushing tests at the four mills are completed and depending on the crop maturity,’’ he said.
He said currently crushing tests are being conducted at the four mills which are expected to conclude at the end of May and crushing could start in mid-June.
The Rarawai Mill is under major maintenance works for its outdated centrifugal machine which would result in improved sugar extraction.
The upgrades are funded by a US$2.75 million (FJ$4.34 million) loan.
