The Ministry of Industry and Trade, has called for the establishment of a Pacific brand to give prevalence to Pasifika’s unique and quality products to the world.
Speaking at the opening of the 2014 Trade Pasifika Show on Tuesday night, ministry Permanent Secretary, Shaheen Ali told organisers and participants that this would surely go long way.
He set Fiji as an example where Government’s Fijian Made – Buy Fijian campaign had created the platform for local businesses to market their products and one that buyers can rely on.

Companies signed up
To date, up to 174 local companies and over 877 products have stamped committed to the campaign since 2011. 19 local companies just signed up last week.
“The Fijian Government’s ‘Fijian Made – Buy Fijian’ campaign has created brand for Fijian products that depicts quality and consistency and affordability,” he said.
“Fiji has managed to take the brand to the regional market through marketing campaign which promotes ‘Pacific quality, Pacific pride’.

Request
“I request the organisers and participants to strive to establish a “Pacific” brand or a “Pasifika” brand, which promotes a unique identity of Pacific products.
“As with Fijian-Made, buying Pacific-Made will mean many advantages for the Region, including, job creation and sustainable growth of the Pacific economies from within.”
