The Fiji Development Bank’s inaugural fortnightly market day was dubbed as a success with an estimated 600 people gathering at the bank’s headquarters on Victoria Parade on Saturday.
In a span of just two hours, the agricultural product stalls were empty indicating positive assurance from the buyers, said FDB Customer Relations and Business Development manager, Sylvia Tiffany.
“We are absolutely delighted with the crowd that turned out for our clients,” she said.
“We have received a number of feedbacks which we will evaluate after this in terms of exhibitors that we bring.
“Unfortunately we couldn’t get as many vegetable, fruit and root crop farmers because of the recent floods. But we’re hopeful we’ll be able to improve the exhibition in terms of agro producer.”
The next market day is scheduled in another two weeks time and is expected to have different exhibitors.
“The market will have different exhibitors for the two Saturdays of every month,” Ms Tiffany said.
“That’s the whole point. So if you see something that you want in this market, buy it because it’s possible that they won’t come in the next market.”
