For the team of Koro Sun Resort and Rainforest Spa in Savusavu, being nominated in the AON Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards 2013, is an honour.
The resort, which will soon be led by Fiji Airways’ Josaia Rayawa, has been nominated in the Accommodation Deluxe category for its Edgewater Bures.
Director of marketing, Merlyn Young Ellis, said the nomination was a recognition of the work their staff had been doing.
“This represents a significant achievement for our hard working staff, management and builders in elevating the experience at Koro Sun and offering a truly unique experience found nowhere else in Fiji,” she said.
In 2013, the management had a delicate balance of maintaining a high level of guest service while the Resort was under construction along with the waterfront bures.
“Our team and partners were excited about the promise of Edgewater Lagoon, however, our focus was all on ensuring guest satisfaction in time when our property was under construction,” Mr Ellis said.
“We are very eager to gain traction with new markets in 2014 and present the new product to the world.”
The new addition
With the resort’s new addition – Edgewater Beach Club and Wai Bar at Edgewater Lagoon – the resort reopened its doors on February 1.
“The completion of our adults only facility along the water, offers guests more ways to enjoy the waterfront experience and an adults only facility at the resort,” Ms Ellis said.
“Our amenities have been greatly enhanced with the addition of the new project which was an exciting way to kick off the new year.”
The Young family has owned and operated the resort for 13 year from when it was initially a 16-bure resort.
They have grown to 42 bures and vales within the resort with three swimming pools, a nine-hole golf course, two restaurants, three bars and dive facility.
“We invested $4 million in Edgewater Lagoon expansions in the past 12 months,” he said.
