Sydney: Virgin founder Richard Branson has launched the regional arm of his airline in Perth.
The high flying billionaire arrived with his usual fanfare, taxiing a plane with its new Virgin livery straight to the red carpet on the tarmac.
He stuck his head out of the cockpit window wearing an akubra and waving the West Australian flag.
Virgin has taken over the Skywest airline in WA.
The new carrier will operate 800 flights a week to 41 destinations across regional Australia.
Sir Richard says regional Australia is a very important market for aviation because of the country’s dispersed geographical population.
