Skydive Fiji is one of the finalists in the coveted AON Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards 2013.
They have been nominated for the Fiji Experience category.
The awards will be held on February 21 at the Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa.
An adventure sport, Skydive Fiji has been become increasingly popular with tourists and locals alike.
Tandem Skydive Fiji commenced operations in April 2004 with a small team and a big dream.
Tim and Susan Joyce are the brains behind the successful Skydive Fiji.
They sailed to Fiji with their young daughters in 2003 and fell in love with the island and the people.
“In the early days, Fiji was promoted and known as the place to come and relax, however, we believed that tourists would also enjoy a variety of activities once they got here,” Mr Joyce said.
With so many different, exciting activities on offer to holiday-makers now, Mr Joyce believes Fiji rivals other adventure sport destinations such as New Zealand and Cairns in Australia.
Flying experience
Mr Joyce has had considerable skydiving and flying experience having been an active sport skydiver for over 25 years.
He was also a member of the Australian World Parachute team during the 1990’s and a tandem instructor with thousands of jumps.
Mr Joyce is also a highly-experienced pilot in both airplanes and helicopters.
Skydive Fiji’s friendly professional team of 17 includes highly-trained locals and internationally-licensed instructors and pilots.
Now conducting over 2000 tandems per year with the potential to grow, they have been thrilling visitors to Fiji and adventure-seeking residents for over 10 years and have an good safety record.
