Newcrest backs PNG (Business updates)

Port Moresby :Newcrest Mining is firmly committed to PNG which is expected to account for about 40 per cent of the company’s gold production this year, board chairman Don Mercer says.
Mercer and Newcrest Mining chief executive officer Greg Robinson were in the country last week to meet with key stakeholders, including Prime Minister Peter O’Neill, State Enterprises and Public Investments Minister Ben Micah, government ministers and senior bureaucrats.
They also visited the Newcrest’s Lihir gold mine on Lihir Island, New Ireland.
