
$14 million Seaqaqa-Dreketi Electrification Project to be commissioned today by the Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama.

The much awaited $14 million Seaqaqa-Dreketi Electrification Project will be commissioned by the Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama today.
As he began his tour yesterday, the electrification project is one of the many projects that people of the Friendly North had been anticipating.
The exciting project also reaches the people in Nasarawaqa in Bua who are farmers and been waiting since the Diwali celebrations last year.
Close to 5,000 people will benefit from these projects as of today and they will no longer have to depend on their generators or kerosene lamps.
In an earlier report, the acting Commissioner Northern, Alipate Bolalevu said, this is of the governments Look North Policy projects and it will be successful.
“Farmers and the people living within those areas will soon have electricity and they shall enjoy and reap the benefits of such a project,” he said.
“This is part of Government’s Look North Policy that will benefit the people here and also get in investors to help in the economy and further development in the North.”
The cost is shared between Government and Fiji Electricity Authority where Government had set aside $7.3 million.
Initially, plans were to supply electricity to Dreketi from Seaqaqa. However it changed to also cover the Nasarawaqa area.
This is a business community and located in Bua boosting the economy of the Bua province.
Relocation project
Commodore Bainimarama is expected to also open the Vunidogoloa Village Relocation Project in Cakaudrove today.
This is the construction of the 30 houses with fish ponds and bee farming.
