The Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) is gearing up for this year’s key projects both in its capital and maintenance works programmes.
This was confirmed by the acting chief executive, Dale Nicholas.
He said the key projects in 2014 were a mixture of both capital and maintenance works.
“The major capital projects include Nadi and Suva Road Upgrading projects,” he said.
“Also the ongoing loan-funded road construction projects in Sigatoka Valley, Buca, Bay, Sawani-Serea and Nabouwalu-Dreketi.”
The maintenance of roads would continue and other areas will be specifically targeted.
“Construction tenders will be called for Qarani Jetty replacement and the Rotuma Jetty will be dredged,” Mr Nicholas said.
“The road maintenance/renewals/ rehabilitation programmes will be undertaken in all divisions.
“Heavy maintenance and renewals will specifically target the Nakasi/Nasinu corridor.
“There are other projects in other areas but once it starts the public will be informed.
“There will be other major rehab works in each division and public will be advised as the projects commence.”

Corporate plan
The Fiji Roads Authority 2014 Corporate Plan would be made public once the Minister has endorsed it.
Everyone can gain access to the corporate plan via the authority’s website once published.
The Fiji Roads Authority has been allocated around $450 million in the 2014 National budget.
