Although MHCC Suva is running at 100 per cent occupancy, there are plans to introduce a few more outlet spaces soon.
Carpenters (Fiji) Limited director retail and marketing, Kunaseelan Sabaratnam, said they are ready to make more space because of the demand.
Mr Sabaratnam made these comments yesterday as MHCC Suva marked its sixth birthday in the heart of downtown Suva.
“We have a lot of enquiries coming. Everyone wants to be in MHCC,” he said.
Mr Sabaratnam said the show-space area on the ground floor being used by MH for special displays and sale will be transformed.
“We are trying to do a glass box and carve it in such a way that there will be another six retail shops in here,” he said.
“So there is a lot of demand still because everyone knows this as the meeting point and this is the city store.”
Successful operations
Mr Sabaratnam said MHCC Suva has been operational for the past six years and has gained its share of popularity.
“I don’t think we need to shout about MHCC any more as people already knows about MHCC,” he said.
Mr Sabaratnam said they have already achieved what they had aimed with the MHCC concept.
For this, he thanked their tenants, customers and business partners.
Expansion plans
Mr Sabaratnam said there are still other expansion plans for MHCC Suva which they have talked of previously.
But, he said at this stage they would rather remain quiet about it as it would be made known when it opens.
Meanwhile, Mr Sabaratnam said MHCC Nadi is still under wraps and they will try to unwrap it next year.
Government incentives
For MH, Mr Sabaratnam said they are generally enjoying the growth in business.
“I think Government is very friendly with the business environment and that is thumbs up for us,” he said.
“Morris Hedstrom has always been known as the store for Christmas so we have done our best to bring goods from local suppliers this year.”
