The Tokatoka Resort Hotel officially launched refurbishment works to its property yesterday. It follows it being acquired by the Warwick International Hotels in April last year.
The popular resort is the Warwick’s first property in Nadi. It is investing over $3 million in upgrade works.
This follows management aims to spruce up its image and bring the property’s guest experience and quality on par with its sister resorts on the Coral Coast.
Upgrade works
The Warwick Group’s Pacific regional general manager Lee Pearce said the overhaul is a milestone.
With the past 12 months spent on designing and planning Tokatoka’s upgrade, the upgrade includes the pool and dining areas.
These will also see the interior of 108 guest apartments, family and executive villas disassembled and refurnished over the next three months.
Additionally some amenities have already been sourced from Malaysia.
‘’These refurbishments are quite significant and are a complete rejuvenation of the resort, which is over 30 years old and well utilized in Fiji by both international and local markets. This refurbishment will bring the hotel back to its former glory,’’ Mr Pearce said.
Warwick Group’s regional business development manager Fiji Ung Beng Huat said each guest room would receive a modern uplift.
However, the interiors would retain its mahogany ceiling rafters to maintain their traditional Fijian ambience.
Catering to all markets
Mr Lee said the Tokatoka’s location within the international airport precinct would complement very well with the Warwick Group’s other local properties.
They are the Warwick Fiji Resort and Spa , the Naviti Resort Fiji and Tambua Sands, and would cater to all markets.
While the resort made a convenient base for travellers landing or departing Fiji, Warwick were also encouraging a longer guest experience at the Tokatoka.
This move had proven to be a popular family property for locals he said.
He added this would additionally provide ample opportunities for international travellers to scour Nadi’s growing shopping hub.
And that the new-look resort would supply five-star service from a four-star property.
Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Events (MICE)
The Warwick group have certainly taken note of Fiji’s growing MICE market and have plans in the pipeline to establish a new conference centre on Tokatoka’s sprawling eight acre property.
‘’That would be quite a large convention centre and while plans for that are not fully finalised yet, we will be effecting that in some time in the near future,” he said.
Mr Pearce noted that the international airport’s entry point for global travellers provided huge number of conference events within Nadi and it was a market the resort would be entering.
