Members of the public visiting the Hibiscus Festival this week will be able to meet housing providers and discuss their housing needs at the National Housing Expo marquee at the 2013 Hibiscus Festival.
The Ministry of Local Government, Urban Development, Housing and Environment as part of its awareness programme to promote ‘Affordable and Decent Housing’, opened the expo this week.
The Ministry’s acting permanent secretary Saverio Baleikanacea said the expo was in line with the Government’s National Housing Policy Implementation Action Plan as well as its commitment to provide accessible as well as affordable land and housing opportunities to improve living standards in the communities.
The Acting PS said Government has carried out policy initiatives to improve the access of affordable and decent homes by establishing a land bank to make land more accessible in response to the needs of the housing sector.
