Fiji Sugar Corporation has raised concerns over not being able to get a consistent supply of sugarcane in the Labasa Mill.
Executive chairman, Abdul Khan, is urging the farmers and lorry operators to get the cane harvested and delivered to the mills as quickly as possible.
“Our field staff have been working with the farmers on the issue,” he said.
“If cane is delivered consistently to the mill, we can capitalise on sugar extraction and this will mean better revenue for all.”
Mr Khan further stressed there has not been any major issues with the Labasa Mill since crushing started.
Until last week, the Labasa mill had produced 16,000 tonnes of raw sugar
Mr Khan said the Labasa mill is expected to process about $55million worth of raw sugar this season.
