The inaugural Melanesian Spearhead Group Roadshow and Trade Fair is proving to be a success.
Booths have been set-up by businesses from Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and Fiji.
Kokonut Pacific, a Solomon Islands company, which operates out of Honiara has set up their booth at the trade fair.
Company representative, June Fakarii, said she has received a lot of interest from people in their products.
Ms Fakarii said this exhibition was more than showcasing of their products.
“We came here to meet with other business heads from the region and to bring out our products for Fijians and people from other regions to see,” she said.
“I have had people coming over in numbers wanting to try out our products. We have received a lot of interest from the local community in them selling our products here.”
Ms Fakarii said there was a need for further exhibitions where people from the MSG member countries could converge and market their products.
“The trade exhibition is a really good initiative and this is a very good opportunity for people from these countries coming together to market their products,” she said.
“We hope to see more of such exhibitions set up.”
Success for Ni Vanuatu
The production manager of Pure Tamanu Oil of Vanuatu, Alain Jacobe, said they have already found local suppliers for noni, which they use in their products.
Their products are widely distributed in France, China and other countries.
Mr Jacobe’s main aim in coming to Fiji was to showcase his products and look for suppliers of noni.
He said this was hugely successful initiative and more of this would be welcome.
