Westpac Morning Walk yesterday is an example of the banking institution’s way of leading the way to a healthy nation, says Westpac Fiji general manager Adrian Hughes.
The rainy and cold weather did not deter the spirits of over 1000 people in Suva to participate.
Elsewhere in Nausori, Lautoka, Ba, Labasa, Savusavu, Levuka, Nadi, Sigatoka, and Tavua people also gathered in numbers to designated locations with over 2000 participants in total.
Those turning up at Albert Park included the President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau and the Minister for Health, Dr Neil Sharma.
“The huge response is a clear reflection of increasing number people taking care of their health,” Mr Hughes said.
“With this partnership we will be leading the way forward to a healthy nation.
“We are part of the problem and we can also provide the solutions and such initiatives are to help you make lifestyle decisions today that future will thank you for.”
Medical experts, physiotherapists too, supported the event by participating in the walk and providing free expert health advice.
This was also conducted through Ministry of Heath Wellness Unit with medical checks throughout the morning walk locations.
The Westpac morning kick started at 6am with an open air zumba for warm up, a quick 30 – 45 minute walk, warm down followed by light refreshments.
The walk was largely supported by the Yellow ribbon team, Corrections Services and police teams at all locations.
The next Westpac Morning Walk has been scheduled for October 26.
