Famous night hangouts in the capital city, O’Reilly’s and Bad Dog Café are following sister-establishment, Shenanigans’ footsteps and have become 100 per cent smoke-free zones.
The parent company, Matrix Holdings Limited, said this was in a bid to support the Ministry of Health’s Tobacco Control Regulations.
From July 1, the Matrix Holdings fully took on Government’s 2012 regulations which were passed on January 8 this year.
With Shenanigans already a smoke-free zone, Bad Dog Café came into effect last month while O’Reilly’s this month.
Matrix Holdings Limited promotions manager Tavai Bale said the company is fully committed towards the success of the regulations.
“Matrix Holdings is a proud stakeholder in the Fiji Government’s Ministry of Health initiative,” Ms Tavai said.
Smokers to be accommodated
But while regulars who do smoke would be adamant to visit the famous night spots regardless of the changes, the company says is it accommodating smokers.
Upgraded outdoor areas will be allocated for customers who wish to smoke upon visiting the establishments.
“We assure our patrons that our top of the notch services remains steadfast and we will continue to provide services as best we can,” Ms Tavai said.
“While Shenanigans had always been a non-smoking bar, Bad Dog Café transitioned fully into a 100 per cent NO SMOKING zone as of June 1, 2013.”
“O’Reilly’s kicks off in the new direction this month.”
