A high school student’s boredom activity has turned into a joyride, after his efforts to enter a texting promotion competition, won him a vehicle.
Marist Brothers High School head boy, Urupeni Senibulu, became Fiji FACT Texting Promotions winner of the grand Nissan Navara worth $65,000.
“It was Sunday, I was bored, so I asked my mum for $10 which she was reluctant to give at first,” Mr Senibulu recalled.
“I told her it was for a vehicle texting promotion and I was going to be the winner of not just any ordinary vehicle but the grand Nissan Navara.
“After exhausting all the credit I had, I kept wishing that the vehicle would be mine.”
And his wish finally came true when he was contacted by the organisers to receive his prize.
Vodafone Fiji was the sponsor of the promotion while Fiji Football Association, the organisers.
Vodafone acting chief marketing officer, Sanjeewa Perera, said this was the best promotions for this year so far.
“There have been two other texting promotions this year and this one’s been the best out of three,” Mr Perara said.
“Ahead, we’re looking at better promotions. We understand that not every vehicle does generates the same kind of interest.
“So to step up the game for the Hibiscus promotions, the prize is Hyundai Santa Fe 2013.”
Fiji Football Association chief executive, Bob Kumar, said: “The promotions is to add flavour to the momentum of the game.
“We know that fans look forward strongly support Fiji FACT games and this is way of thanking them for their support. Other consolation prizes include 1200 ticket giveaways.”
