Funded by World Bank, renovations are among efforts to strengthen tourism in the second largest island, Vanua Levu.
“The first phase of the programme led by the Ministry of Tourism focuses on bolstering tourism in Vanua Levu, including Taveuni, by improving access to and climate resilience of essential services such as drainage, sewage and transport infrastructure,” Assistant Minister for Tourism Alitia Bainivalu.
“This includes the Labasa and Savusavu domestic airports, as well as an upgrade to the 95-kilometre road connecting the two towns.”
The assistant minister told Parliament that several legislative reforms aim to deliver this year, beginning with Fiji’s First Civil Aviation master plan.
