Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka applauded the staff of the Fiji Ports Corporation Limited (FPCL) for their post-COVID-19 resilience and hard work.
The PM met with FPCL staff at the Lautoka Port and also took a tour of its shipping yard before being engaged in a closed meeting with stakeholders on Friday.
“Your resilience, your steadfastness and your ability to work through that period and also to participate in the great recovery we’re witnessing in Fiji at this time is a tribute to your capabilities and your ability and your willingness to sacrifice for a country you love,” he said.
He commended staff for facilitating the recent arrival of the Majestic Princess cruise liner which brought in 3560 to its 4272 passengers.
The Majestic Princess arrived at the Suva Port on February 16, at the Lautoka Port on February 17 and at Dravuni Island on February 18, before heading to Noumea in New Caledonia on February 20.
Attempts to get a comment from FPCL chief executive officer Vajira Piyasena were unsuccessful.
