Nadroga’s latest attraction, The Rugby Cafe – Matawalu’s Milk Bar, has become a crowd-gatherer.

Owned and operated by three rugby stars, the cafe in Sigatoka Town is adorned with photographs of former Flying Fijians, while meals are named after Fijians legends, bearing even their signatures.

Fijian Drua half back Peni Matawalu and his overseas-based brothers Nikola and Paul, established the café.

It comes 12 years after the idea was discussed with their father.

“We won’t be playing right through,” he said.

“There will be time to hang our boots, but we have initiated this as something we can fall back on.

“This is for our families and also our communities in the rugby town.”

The Matawalu brothers are from Rakiraki, but developed a fondness for Nadroga-Navosa after their father settled in the province.

The cafe is expected to be a hit in town during the McDonalds Fiji Coral Coast Sevens.

The café is managed Helen Regan and partner Pau Matawalu.
