A meeting scheduled in Nadi this afternoon will discuss the construction of an airport and seven-star resort in Northern Yasawa.
According to industry insiders, the multi-million dollar tourism development will take shape over 148.6 acres of land that include Teci Village in Yasawa-i-rara.
Champagne Beach
Champagne Beach, a coveted stretch of beachfront that was earlier eyed by a group of Korean investors, is now included in the Bora Bora-styled planned resort.
SunBiz’s queries to Fiji Airports, about the construction of an airport or airstrip in Northern Yasawa, remained unanswered when this edition went to print last night.
The project has the support of the Government, SunBiz was told.
Boost for villagers
The 300-rooms resort project is expected to raise the economy in the entire Yasawa group, when it gets off the ground.
It would also meet the growing demand for tourism accommodation, as the industry fell short, even as it thrived and exceeded expectations in th last tourism seasons.
Waya Island Resort
Last year, a mature, boutique and adults-only resort opened in Waya on Southern end of the Yasawas.
Waya Island Resort is home to the cream of some of the tourism industry’s seasoned employees.
Secluded from the rest of the island, it is largely hailed for self-sustainable measures for the benefit its guests.
Fiji has more than 400 licensed accommodation providers with a combined inventory of room in excess of 12, 000, Tourism Fiji said.
