British American Tobacco (BAT) Fiji’s recent factory upgrade has positioned the company to compete with markets in Pakistan, South Korea and Sri Lanka.
BAT Fiji invested $4.5 million to improve capabilities in its manufacturing department through an upgrade of its machinery.
“The qualification also enables our team to respond to market demands with agility and flexibility,” said BAT Fiji general manager, Sam Dormor.
The upgrade is known as Project Sovereign internally.
“The investment ensures our processes are consistent with BAT’s best practices and that goods produced here are of the highest quality and with minimal waste,” he said.
Mr Dormor said the project created opportunities for long term and sustainable business operations.
BAT Fiji supplies cigarettes across the Pacific.
“A platform that is designed to bring both economic and employment prosperity to Fiji,” he said.
