Aloesi Nakoci’s journey to her Olympic rugby career was a road she had to navigate on her own, with little support.

However, this did not deter her from achieving her dream; in fact, it helped her stay motivated as she pursued her passion for the sport.

Winning the Bronze Medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics has silenced critics who once ridiculed her and the rest of the Fijian sevens team squad.

Ms Nakoci never imagined playing on such a stage, but rugby was a passion she wanted to excel in. It was all through hard work and sacrifices. Growing up, Ms Nakoci was an athletic child, playing sports in school and representend her school in track and field. She has been a crucial player for the Fijiana 7s in the World Rugby Sevens Series.
