Esita Elisapesi Tokalau-Baleilekutu has proven that being a school dropout is not a barrier to becoming successful.

The 28-year-old, of Kadavu now runs her own business and calls it Dropout Bakes.

She started with the name ‘For Heaven’s Cakes Fiji’ but later found out that it was already taken by a very advanced home baker.

So while she was looking for a name, she was called out by some people for being a ‘vuli va vo’ (drop out).

“People said I wasn’t fit to be a business owner.

This did not deter from pushing on, it only made her stronger, hence the birth of “The Dropout Bakes”.

Ms Tokalau-Baleilekutu invested $220 into her business back in 2020 when she was getting the Fiji National Provident Fund’s $220 unemployment assistance.
