Mohseen Riaz Ud Dean is an anthropologist by profession. He currently heads the Community Research and Ethnographic Solutions Mapping at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Pacific Office in Fiji.
Mr Dean’s philosophy about business as a whole is about having a solid vision.
“One must be very clear on why they exist as a business, and they must know what they want to grow into in another 10-15 years and work towards it,” Mr Dean said.
“This is of course enshrined in the businesses aims, goals and objectives, and businesses must be aware of their competitors.
Those in decision making roles in the business must make the right decisions at the right time. The business must be in a position to aggressively market and create visibility for their products, items, and must also have a research and development arm- whose role is to continuously understand consumer/client demands.
“The business must be aware of their pain points and keep an eye out on things it can capitalize and leverage upon,” he said.
“Workers are the greatest assets in any business. We need to ensure that they are provided with the right resources so they can be effective and efficient in their roles.”
