This year’s Agriculture Show is anticipated to be even bigger and better than previous years.
The 2013 Agriculture Show will be held at Churchill Park in Lautoka from September 3 to 7.
Permanent Secretary for Agriculture, Ropate Ligairi, said preparations are already well-underway.
“We have been conducting meetings with the Agriculture Show Committee which also involves stakeholders as well as representatives from other ministries and Government Departments,” he said.
“Heads of Divisions for the Ministry will be heading various teams to see that all important aspects of organising the show are covered right up to the culmination of the agriculture show which is the Farmers Awards Night.”

More involvement
Mr Ligairi said more involvement from the farmers is expected this year.
“Last year was the first time we held the Agriculture Show in the Western Division and the turnout was huge,” he said.
“The feedback that we also received prompted us to hold the show again in the Western Division.”

Veterinary Association meet
This year, the show will be held in conjunction with the Commonwealth Veterinary Association meeting which will be held in Nadi.
Mr Ligairi said an invitation had also been extended to the participants for them to also visit the show in Lautoka. This he said could be as part of their week-long programme.
“Their feedback is important and will also guide us to improving the show in the coming years,” he said.
The 2013 Agriculture Show will once again be sponsored by Crest from Goodman Fielder.
The signing of the Naming Rights to the 2013 Agriculture Show will be held at the Ministry of Agriculture Headquarters in Raiwaqa, Suva, this Friday.
