Lakena women business centre was awarded centre of the year during the 2022 South Pacific Business Development awards night last week.
Centre chief Roselin Nisha said hard work and team work finally paid off.
Ms Nisha said the award resembled the dedication of all women at the center.
“We are grateful for the continuous support of SPBD that enabled us to push through with different business operations,” Ms Nisha said.
Her Business
Ms Nisha is a tailor of more than five years.
She started her tailoring business at home with a small manual sewing machine.
Few years later, she was able to obtain a loan from a micro financing institution.
This was an opportunity to grow her business. It literally changed her life for the better and she hasn’t looked back since.
“I was able to buy my first automatic machine with the money I loaned in 2016 and then another overlock in 2017,” Ms Nisha said.
The Lakena Business centre is made up of more than 50 members with different business operations.
More than 2000 women around the country attended the SPBD awards night at the Vodafone arena on Thursday, October 20, 2022.
