At 26, Alvin Prasad was appointed Human Resource and Training Manager at IHG Hotels and Resorts. Now 30-year-old, Mr Prasad says the beauty about working in a service industry mainly hotels and resorts was that ‘there is no permanent satisfaction’.

“Every day begins and ends with a challenge and victory. So it’s not like a project that once you finish, you ask ‘what’s the next’.”

Mr Prasad grew up in Savusavu where he attended primary school at Khemendra Bhartiya School. He moved to Labasa Sangam College to complete his secondary school studies.

During his studies at the University of the South Pacific, he was selected for the student exchange programme and had the opportunity to study at Victoria University in Melbourne for one semester.

Mr Prasad said the opportunity played a vital role in where he was today.

“This was the first time I travelled and since then I have never stopped. It made me realise how much there is to explore and experience in life.”
