$750K Upgrade For Italian Restaurant

The Amalfi Italian restaurant on Port Denarau complex is expected to have an upgrade renovation worth $750,000.

This was confirmed by the owners, Great Pacific Hotel, at the 8th Anniversary celebration of their sister company on Monday night.

Managing director Shahed Ali said the whole investment including the kitchen upgrade will be around $750,000.

“We will be extending our kitchen area by putting in one big pizza oven after we extend the restaurant much bigger kitchen wise.”

Mr Ali said restaurant has gained a big success with the idea originated from his elder brother and businessman, Ahmed Ali, who resides in the United Kingdom.

“This is our sub-branch of our Italian Restaurant in London and it was decided that we need to open one here in Fiji back in 2008,” he said.

Mr Ali said since the establishment eight years ago the eatery has grown bigger and better.

The restaurant has two Italian Chefs, Stefano Aprea and head chef, Enzo Maione.

“We are happy to have our restaurant here.

“Eight years ago, we had decided to open one in Suva but then Suva was not the market, however the West remains to be the market.”

Amalfi employs 23 staff members with 15 in the front line.

The Great Pacific Hotel also owns the Crows Nest which is based at Korotogo on the Coral Coast.

Mr Ali added their second restaurant in Nadi will be part of their resort complex in Wailoaloa, Nadi which is expected to begin soon this year.
